ABOUT US

"Make Music Not War” began as a spark in 2015

Make Music. Not War” began as a spark in 2015 during a conflict resolution project in Germany, uniting youth workers from 15 conflict-affected countries like Israel, Palestine, Ukraine, Russia, and others. This initiative aimed to foster peace and reconciliation through inclusive projects in post-conflict societies.

The first youth exchange took place in Bremen, Germany, in 2017, bringing together young musicians and creatives to write, perform, and record songs of unity and understanding. Since then, the project has grown to multiple editions, recording original peace songs, creating music videos, and hosting live concerts that dissolve tensions and build connections through the universal language of music.

Each year, 40 young participants from across Europe and the Middle East form diverse bands, blending Jazz, Pop, Rock, and World Music. Through workshops, jam sessions, and cultural exchanges, they craft songs inspired by their shared experiences and traditions. Beyond the music, they perform at peace concerts, local events, and even on the streets of Bremen, sharing their message of unity. Organized by NaturKultur e.V. and funded by Erasmus+, this project is a testament to how creativity can transform conflict into harmony.

THE VOICE OF the PARTICIPANTS

"Make Music Not War 3"" was my first Erasmus+ experience, and this journey has ecome an important part of my life. By participating in this project, I had the opportunity to meet new people and explore different cultures more closely. We shared various perspectives with each participant and inspired one another.

Music became not only a means of expression but also a powerful bond that brought people together. The workshops I attended helped me deepen my knowledge of music and provided me with the opportunity to develop my skills. Through this experience, I rediscovered the unifying power of music, and I am very grateful for the memories and experiences I gained from this project.

"Make Music Not War was an incredibly enriching experience for me in every sense of the word. I can honestly say I’ve grown a lot as a person and broadened my horizons. It wasn’t just about musical education, I also met so many people from different countries around the world that I would have a hard time meeting otherwise. Each night was introduced to different cultures and traditions. Nights to remember! Spending a short time in such a beautiful environment, surrounded by nature, creative and enthusiastic people, was a truly magical experience for me. The roles of photographer, scenographer, and costume designer provided me with such a beautiful experience for which I am immensely grateful. An experience that marks a person and ignites a fire within them that couldn't wait to shine."
